Discovering Our Christian Values

2/20/2021

I want to spend a little time looking at Christian values that change our lives. Jesus makes it clear in the Bible that the two most essential commandments are to love God and love others. These Christian values are at the center of the New Testament and serve as a general guide for how Christians should live and behave. But beyond these general parameters, Paul writes in Galatians about Judeo Christian values worth exploring.

Galatians chapter five explains the most essential and core Christian values in detail. Galatians 5:22-26 (ESV) says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”

The fruit of the Holy Spirit is the result of the Holy Spirit’s presence in the life of a Christian. Having Christ in our life and heart should yield noticeable changes in the lives of believers. Today, let’s explore the Christian value of Love.

Romans 12:9-10 (ESV) reads, "Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor."

When we’re looking at Christian values, we first want to discuss one that Jesus himself calls us to is “love.” Love for God and love for others is not only evidence for the presence of Christ in one’s life, but it also holds the power to transform a person’s existence.

Love is selfless and it includes caring for others and their wellbeing. It’s also an emotion that people express for one another in different ways, such as for family, friends, and most importantly for God.  It’s also one that He expresses back to us, His creation.

Remember to find time in your busy schedule to share true Love with others in your life and let God know how much you love Him.

Daily Miracles

2/10/2021

When we think about the Apostle Paul’s conversion to Christ it was definitely a great example of the gospel’s power.

His transformation was so complete that his life totally changed.  At the core of his being, Paul moved from an enemy of the cross to an advocate for Jesus. Besides writing about two-thirds of the New Testament, several missionary journeys, and facing all types of adversity, the Lord used him as a great worker of miracles.

Look at what Acts 19:11-12 (ESV) says about Paul, “And God was doing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were carried away to the sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them.”

When we hear about miraculous healing or hear testimonies about them today, let’s remember that they advance the gospel and bring spiritual healing at the same time as physical, mental, and emotional healing. As we pray for miracles of healing and other needs, and rebuking the enemy’s forces in the lives of individuals, pray for both the person and the gospel to be advanced. Because these things will always go hand-in-hand with what God has called us to do.
